INW Collegiate Recap: Round-up of Saturday and Sunday action

A recap from action featuring Inland Northwest schools and their conferences for play on Saturday and Sunday. It was a great weekend for the lower division schools as Whitworth's men and women went unbeaten as well as Northwest Nazarene's two teams.

MOUNTAIN WEST CONFERENCE – WOMEN

Dylan Coffee scored off a John Di Lulu (Boise, ID) cross 12 minutes into the match to give the Crusaders the lead on the road and Daniel Clark doubled the advantage in the 34th minute. Jaime Torres made the lead three less than two minutes into the second before Ryan Keohane spoiled the shutout in the 53rd minute. – MORE 
MSU-Billings 2 :: OT :: 1 Univ of Mary
Trailing since the 12 minute on a strike from Rory Pratt, the Yellowjackets got the equalizer from Chad Ward (Bozeman, MT) in the 66th minute. In the fifth minute overtime Landon Horst headed the ball in from close range. – MORE 

GREAT NORTHWEST CONFERENCE – WOMEN
Saint Martin’s 1 :: 2 Seattle Pacific
Ali Martin gave SPU the lead in the 18th minute but Ashley Richardson (Yakima, WA) pulled SMU level in the 36th minute when she put a rebound off the crossbar in from six yards. The game went scoreless in the second half and it looked destined for a draw when Megan Lindsay (Spokane, WA) delivered a corner with 10 seconds remaining that was headed in for the win by Shayla Page.
MSU-Billings 0 :: 3 Western Washington
The Yellowjackets suffered their first loss of the season, falling behind on the road seven minutes in. Unable to find an equalizer against Jamie Arthurs (Richland, WA), who made two saves on the day, the Vikings pulled away with strikes in the 76th and 81st minutes
Northwest Nazarene 1 :: 0 Simon Fraser
In a close-knit contest, Sarah Staropoli delivered a corner six minutes into the second half that Whitney Wood (Coeur d’Alene, ID) headed in for the lone goal of the contest. – MORE

The Cavaliers took the lead early on a Kaylynn Winwood (Nampa, ID) strike in the seventh minute and never looked back. McKayla Madison (Bend, OR) doubled the lead three minutes before the break with Alex Blaylock and Hayley Hayes (Meridian, ID) scoring in the second half. – MORE

The Eagles used a goal in each half to take the win with Stevie Harrison scoring in the 38th and Jacque Bundtruck (Boise, ID) delivering a corner for Katelyn Partridge’s header in the 60th.
College of Idaho 2 :: 1 Corban
After falling behind on a 10th minute Katelyn Weaver strike set up by Tera McDonough (Boise, ID), the Coyotes rallied with two late strikes for the road win. Brittney Lacey (Boise, ID) delivered a corner in the 74th minute that was one-timed past the keeper by Jessica Ayala (Eagle, ID). In the final minute of play Sarah Hicks (Boise, ID) provided the winning tally with a first-time strike from 15 yards. - MORE

College of Idaho 1:: 3 Corban
Juan Castillo gave the hosts a two-goal advantage in the first half with Derik Chaney (Helena, MT) flicking a ball onto him just 28 seconds into the match for the first and a penalty kick allowing him to add the second in the 29th. Tyler Hagen made it three in the 70th before Joseph Bolin (Payette, ID) struck for the Coyotes from 25 yards with a bouncing shot in the 82nd minute. – MORE

Lucas Cash (Pasco, WA) set up the final of four unanswered goals for NCU.

The Argonauts handed Jamestown their first loss of the season with Andre Zarate (Bonners Ferry, ID) setting up Christian Johansen 10 minutes into the contest for the lead. Johansen scored again less than three minutes later to double the lead. – MORE

The visitors took the lead in the 24th minute, but Katie Flynn answered back in the 32nd minute for the Bengals. Two minutes later Flynn found Amanda Ellsworth, who chipped the ball over the keeper for the win as Sheridan Hapsic posted seven saves to hold the lead. – MORE

The Eagles gave up a goal in the 16th minute to Amanda Dutra, who doubled the lead in the 51st as PSU began to pull away. Daniela Solis then set up two goals in the 62nd minute and 76th for the Vikings.

WESTERN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – WOMEN
Idaho 1 :: 1 Univ Texas-San Antonio
Katie Baran (Spokane, WA) and Chelsie Small combined to set up Erica Hart (Spokane, WA), who finished from just outside the six to give the Vandals the advantage in the 52nd minute. The hosts, however, equalized in the 79th minute. – MORE

Julia Moravic (Spokane, WA) gave Seattle the lead in the 28th minute with a strike inside the area that was over the keeper’s reach. Monique Escalera added some insurance in the 72nd minute.

Kasey Rubosky (Spokane,WA) gave the Zags the lead in the 24th minute and a pair of goals late in the second half secured the victory. Katey Pennington (Boise, ID) and Ali Ohashi helped push the lead to two in the 73rd minute with Emma Dolcetti putting away the cross and Heather Johnson (Kennewick, WA) capped the game off in the 80th. – MORE

After giving up the opening goal to the Dons’ Mauricio De Leon in the 35 minute, the Zags answered right back with a Zach Hamer (Spokane, WA) penalty kick in the 40th minute after Conner Bevans was taken down in the box. De Leon, however, struck again in the 71st minute for the visitors. – MORE

The Griffins took the lead two minutes before the break and Alex Roegiers (Boise, ID) added some insurance with a strike eight minutes from time.

FRONTIER CONFERENCE – WOMEN
Westminster 2 :: 3 Carroll
It was a good thing the Saints built a three-goal lead because the Griffins mounted a strong rally, despite being on the road, in the second half. Laura Beck (Helena, MT) connected with Christa Saur (Boise, ID) 11 minutes into the contest to give Carroll the lead and Dennis McKinley doubled the lead in the 43rd. Macie Netz (Great Falls, MT) provided what proved to be the game-winner in the 70th minute with Westminster’s comeback starting just four minutes later with a goal from Carissa Cooper (Meridian, ID). Nicole Carter brought the Griffins within one with seven minutes remaining, but that was all they could find.
