Monday's slate features a pair of 4A play-in games as Pasco takes on Walla Walla and Gonzaga Prep hosts University in intra-league games before the seeds from the two leagues begin to play one another later in the week.
Walla Walla easily defeated Pasco 4-1 earlier in the season, but the two squared off in the final game of the regular season last Thursday in Tri-Cities in a contest that needed a shootout to decide a winner after they finished 1-1. Also in an immediate rematch scenario, Gonzaga Prep topped the Titans 4-2 in their season finale on Friday. The winner of the MCC 4-v-5 match moves on to face Central Valley Wednesday while the GSL winner will visit Chiawana.
On Tuesday, Rogers will travel to the Tri-Cities to face Kennewick in the opening round of the 3A tournament. The two sides were winless last year when the Lions romped in an 11-0 win. This season Kennewick heads into the match with a 2-12 record while the Pirates are winless.
In the NEA opening round matches Tuesday Riverside travels to Freeman and Medical Lake hosts Colville. The Scotties won both of their meetings, squeaking past Riverside 2-1 in the first and winning 4-2 on the road in their season finale Thursday. Similarly, the first meeting between Colville and the Cardinals was a close one with Medical Lake winning 2-1 away from home and then rolling to a 4-2 win at home last Wednesday in a back-and-forth affair.
