INW HS Best XI - Week 6: Heroes Rise During Rivalry Week


A week that saw many rivals square off against one another produced quite a few standout performances. Chief among them may have been Chelsea Koker, who helped guide West Valley from near the bottom of the table to within striking distance of the leaders with wins against Cheney and rival East Valley. She provided the winner against Cheney and tallied a hat-trick while erasing a two-goal deficit at rival East Valley.

For games through Thursday, October 5 (leagues were idle Fri/Sat)

G - Hannah Johnson (Shadle Park, Jr) :: Made eight saves in the match and a key one in the fifth round of penalties to give the Highlanders the 2-1 shootout win against rival North Central.

D - Alyssa Molina (Central Valley, Jr) :: Led the Bears defense in a 1-0 shutout win against rival University to take the Muddy Cleat showdown.

D - Megan Wilkinson (Pasco, Sr) ::  Helped lead the defense in an outstanding effort in which they shutout Hanford en route to a shootout victory against the Falcons.

M - Sarah Frahm (Mead, Jr) :: Scored the opening goal and with just seconds remaining tallied to give the Panthers a 2-1 victory over rival Mt Spokane.

F - Makayla Geiger (Medical Lake, Sr) :: Scored three and set up another in a 5-1 win at Newport and then scored the opening three and added an assist in a 4-0 win against Riverside.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK :: F - Chelsea Koker (West Valley, Jr) :: Scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Cheney and rallied the Eagles to a 5-4 win at East Valley with three consecutive goals when trailing by two.

F - Carolyn Moravec (Lewis & Clark, Jr) :: The Tigers rolled to a big win in their South Hill showdown with Ferris with Moravec scoring the opening two goals and finishing with a hat-trick.

F - Makinzie Packwood (Clarkston, Sr) :: Tallied a goal and assist in 3-0 win over unbeaten East Valley and set up the lone goal in a 1-0 victory at Pullman.

F - Hanna Phillips (Riverside, Jr) :: Upset Colville 3-0 with a pair of goals in the second half to lock up the win.

F - Alexis Torok (Lakeside, So) :: Set up both goals for the Eagles, who needed a late goal for a 3-2 shootout win against Deer Park. Lakeside also edged unbeaten Freeman on the road 2-1.

F - Summer Yates (Chiawana, Sr) :: Tallied a goal and assist in a 3-1 win against Richland and notched another two goals and assist in a 4-1 win at Walla Walla.
