In the 3A opener between the bottom sides from the MCC and GSL, Kennewick moved on with a shutout win over Rogers in a game that was much closer than expected given the score between the two a year ago was 11-0.
In the opening round of the 1A Districts for the NEA, Freeman scored two in the second half to pull away against Riverside while Colville was surprisingly completely shutout in their match at Medical Lake.
PLAYOFF RESULTS
3A - Rogers 0-2 Kennewick
In a surprising scoreline when considering this seasons results and the tally of last year's meeting between the two, Rogers managed to keep things close on the road against the Lions. Andrea Martell gave the Lions the lead in the first half with a shot that deflected off several Rogers defenders. Kirren Gay pushed the lead to two in the second half and Thay Tha Soe recorded the clean sheet, the second of the season for Kennewick, and the ninth in 10 games for Rogers. Kennewick advances with a quick turnaround and road trip to play North Central.
1A - Riverside 1-3 Freeman
Lindsay Balkenbush scored the opening goal 11 minutes in via Brynn Van Orden, but the Rams tied the contest up in the 28th via Calli Pangerl. Two minutes into the second half Van Orden set up the go-ahead goal again, this time finding Macy Luhr. Peyton Brewer added some insurance with five minutes remaining. The Scotties now face Deer Park, who won their last meeting 1-0 last Wednesday, on Thursday.
1A - Colville 0-3 Medical Lake
For only the fourth time this season in official play, the Indians were shutout in the contest. Taylor Cannon and Annastasia Hurt-Moran combined for the clean while Makayla Geiger was tearing it up at the other end. Jaxyn Farmen set her up for the opener in the 15th and again for the second at the hour mark. Geiger finished a hat-trick performance with 10 minutes remaining.
LEAGUE RESULTS
GNL - Clarkston 3-2 SO East Valley
A meaningless game for both with seeding already set, the Bantams fired a warning shot heading into the postseason that it won't be an easy route to state, handing the Knights their third loss. Kaitlin Harvey scored 20 minutes in for the hosts but Mackinzie Packwood converted a penalty in the 31st to even it up and Kaela Southwick put them Clarkston in front in the 52nd. Brie Holeck put it back level in the 63rd, but the Bantams snatched the win 4-2 in the tiebreaker.
