INW Best XI - Week 6: Barsher & Duty lead Whitman, Central Washington to pair of wins

Each week INWsoccernews will release lists of the week’s best performances for men’s and women’s soccer in the region, recognizing players at schools in the region or those from the area that play elsewhere in the nation.

BEST OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST XI - MEN

Devin Leon
G - Javier Amaral (Ontario, OR) - Treasure Valley :: Made five saves in a scoreless draw at Whatcom and then made six saves in a 1-0 victory at Everett.

INW MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK :: M - Alex Barsher - Whitman :: Scored twice, including the winner, in a 5-1 victory against visiting Pacific in which he also recorded an assist and scored twice in a 3-1 victory against George Fox, including the equalizer. (Seattle, WA)

M - Devin Leon - CC Spokane :: Free kick from midfield led to winning strike in a 1-0 win against North Idaho College midweek and he set up the opening goal in a 2-1 road win at Skagit Valley. (Phelan, CA)

Zach Waldher
M - Alex Opland (Rathdrum, ID) - CC Spokane :: Set up the lone goal in a 2-1 loss at Edmonds and provided the winning goal in a 2-1 victory at Skagit Valley.

M - Zach Waldher (Whitefish, MT) - Whitworth :: Scored twice in a 5-3 victory over George Fox and another pair in a 4-1 victory against Pacific for four at home on the weekend.

F - Ian Farley (Spokane, WA) - Pacific :: Scored the opening goals in both games on the road, falling 5-1 at Whitman and 4-1 to Whitworth, which scored three up a man.

F - Mario Guizar (Kennewick, WA) - Walla Walla CC :: Scored the second goal and set up the third goal in a 3-0 victory at Skagit Valley, and then scored the second goal to go up two in a 2-2 draw at Edmonds.

F - Thorge Jess - MSU-Billings :: Scored the equalizer in a 2-1 loss at Saint Martin's and scored the team's first in a rally attempt from three down in a 3-2 loss at Seattle Pacific. (Kiel, Germany)

F - Clark Phillips - Gonzaga :: Was a consistent threat in the contest and scored the second goal with an unexpected redirection that proved to be the winner. (Portland, OR)

F - Fredy Razo - Northwest Nazarene :: Scored three minutes into the match in a 1-1 draw at Seattle Pacific and took advantage of the goalkeeper slipping in the wet conditions to scored the winner in a 2-1 victory at Saint Martin's. (Irvine, CA)

F - Guillermo Silva (Yakima, WA) - Columbia Basin :: Scored the lone goal to spoil a shutout with four minutes left in a 2-1 loss at Everett and scored to bring the Hawks back within one in a 2-2 draw at Whatcom.

BEST OF THE INLAND NORTHWEST XI - WOMEN

INW WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK :: D - Tarah Duty - Central Washington :: Set up all three goals in a 4-1 victory against visiting Northwest Nazarene and added another assist on the equalizer in a 2-1 overtime victory at home against MSU-Billings. (Black Diamond, WA)

D - Nitalia Zuniga - Idaho :: The defender was an offensive juggernaut versus the Aggies, setting up all three goals in a 3-2 victory over visiting New Mexico State. (Ventura, CA)

M - Mackenzie Hughes - Whitman :: Scored the lone goal in a 4-1 loss to visiting Pacific and then tallied both goals, one a penalty, in a surprise 2-0 home victory against 20th-ranked Linfield. (Woodinville, WA)

M - Savannah Moorehouse - Central Washington :: Scored twice, including the winner, in a 4-1 home win against Northwest Nazarene and provided the equalizer in a 2-1 overtime win against visiting MSU-Billings. (Bonney Lake, WA)
Karley Baggerly

M - Whitney Peterson (Meridian, ID) - Idaho State :: Scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Eastern Washington and scored the equalizer in a 1-1 draw against Montana in a rematch of last season's conference championship.

F - Karley Baggerly - Gonzaga :: Scored the lone goal in a one-on-one with the keeper in a 1-0 win at UC Riverside and started the play that nearly gave the Zags a draw with 46 seconds left when she won the ball and found Sila Tuiofea for a shot that narrowly missed. (Canby, OR)

F - Haley Curtis (Yakima, WA) - Utah Valley :: Haley Curtis set up the opening goal and assisted on a second with a shot that rebounded off the post for a teammate to finish what proved to be the winner in the 5-3 road victory at Grand Canyon.

F - Rachelle Fisher - CC Spokane :: Scored the opening goal and then added a second in a 3-0 victory at Skagit Valley.

F - Sofia Huerta (Boise, ID) - Santa Clara :: Had a hand in all three goals in the 3-2 win over Kansas, scoring the opener and the winner in addition to setting up the team's second tally.

F - Delaney Romero (Yakima, WA) - Walla Walla CC :: Was among the six goal scorers in the 6-0 victory at Skagit Valley and then scored the opening three goals in the 6-0 win at Edmonds.

F - Alisa Sagdahl - MSU-Billings :: Scored the opening goals in both contests only to see the opposition rally with Seattle Pacific winning 2-1 at home and Central Washington 2-1 in overtime at home. (Edmonds, WA)
