INW College Recap - Week 9: Walla Walla, Spokane continue to widen NWAACC East gaps

Columbia Basin's sides gave Spokane and Walla Walla some trouble this week, but the Hawks just were not enough to get any points in their meeting with the NWAACC East title contenders. Meanwhile, the game of the week had to be the eight-goal affair between the Treasure Valley and Wenatchee Valley women in which the two exchanged early goals and the host Knights rallied from three down late in the game for a draw.

The North Idaho College women joined their men's counterpart in the postseason with a pair of road wins while the men wrapped up their regular season campaign with a pair of road wins over NWAACC sides.

Fabian Alvarez spoiled the shutout in the 72nd minute.

Columbia Basin 0 :: 3 Spokane
Brian Clark scored two early goals in the 17th and 22nd minutes on balls from Jared Fretheim (Spokane, WA) and Devin Leon, but it was the effort of goalkeeper Curtis Hill (Spokane, WA), who had a fantastic night in goal against a Hawks side that created numerous scoring opportunities at the other end. Juan Arroyo connected with Leon with 20 minutes left to cap the scoring. INWsn REPORT

Treasure Valley's Regan Hyde (Preston, ID) restored the lead in the 17th and then turned provider on Dakota Chapman's (Payette, ID) strike just a minute later. Hyde netted her second goal in the 45th to push the lead to three, but it proved to not be enough as the hosts scored three times in a six-minute span late in the match thanks to Daniela Vargas (Wenatchee, WA). Vargas set up Castro for her second in the 72nd and then scored herself two minutes later before capping the comeback in the 77th by finding Alma Franco for the equalizer.
