Last week Central Valley edged Gonzaga Prep to claim sole possession of first as the lone remaining unbeaten side, but a week later and the tables were turned by Mead, putting the three teams back even atop the Greater Spokane League at 5-1-0 and 15 points.
The table was nearly jumbled even more Wednesday night as Lewis & Clark held a two goal lead at Gonzaga Prep in a back-and-forth contest that saw a dramatic comeback by the hosts, who avoided dropping points with an overtime 3-2 victory that left the Tigers atop a four-way tie for fourth with University, Ferris and Lewis & Clark at 3-3-0 courtesy of a single point from a shootout loss.
Here's a look around the action from Wednesday...
GSL #####
Central Valley 1-2 Mead: The Panthers were all over the league-leading Bears from the start forcing two saves from AJ Crooks in the opening minute. They continued to press with the majority of possession in the offensive end and finally broke through when Gabbie Walters fed Kendal Houston in the 31st minute. Two minutes before halftime Olivia Sloan scored on a ball from Katie Greene to double the lead. It proved to be a key insurance tally with Central Valley getting on the board via Maggie Ames, but the goal in the 76th minute goal was all the Bears could find in their attempt to rally.
Lewis & Clark 2-3 OT Gonzaga Prep: As exciting as the earlier match between Mead and CV, the nightcap proved to be an even bigger thriller. In a back-and-forth first half it was Lewis & Clark capitalizing on their chances to take a two goal lead. Rebekah Reason put the visitors on the board with a nice strike from the outside of the box in the 22nd minute and with two minutes left in the half set up Camryn Gardner for the second.

The second half looked like it might be more of the same with Grace Ellis sending a free kick off the crossbar. It proved a heartbreaking miss in the end, though, as Prep made their comeback. Angel Denke scored in the 49th and then a loose ball in the six popped out to Ella McKiernan at the hour mark for a nice one-time finish to tie things up.

The two sides continued to fly from one end to the other looking for the winner and were forced to take matters to overtime, where things got a little odd. The first session went a little long following an error from referee Garth Trimble, who mistakenly was playing the collegiate overtime length of 10 minutes. After an extra three to four minutes were played, it was called to his attention and after another couple minutes discussion with the coaches and captains, the teams switched sides and began the second period. Three minutes into the second overtime a ball out of midfield to the pair of Prep attackers found its way to Corynn Vigil, who collected it in stride and slipped it past the keeper for the dramatic winner.
University 4-2 North Central: The Indians took the initial lead in the contest, scoring five minutes in when Kaylee Mellgren fed Ryley Warren for the opener. It was short-lived, however. Julia Adair scored twice in the next 13 minutes with Piper Lawson finding her in the seventh and Emma Knudson connecting with her in the 18th. Adair turned provider in the second half, setting up Amanda Gerard in the 46th for a two goal advantage. Izzy Garcia brought it back to one with a penalty in the 53rd but Kelsey Crosby restored the margin at two on a ball to Kora George in the 58th.GSOC LC at GPrep; Final OT Prep's Vigil nets 3-2 winner in 87th @GSL_Scores pic.twitter.com/SgQ4ufhdgm— Gerald Barnhart (@INWsoccernews) October 13, 2016
Shadle Park 1-5 Ferris: The Saxons grabbed an early two goal lead but were only one one at the break thanks to a goal from Keilah Shaw in the 31st on a ball from Meghan Felts. Makaela Willis set up Madi Von Brethorst 11 minutes in for the hosts and Sydney Clements doubled the advantage in the 17th before Shadle answered. In the second half Clements connected with Myah Long four minutes in to push the lead back to two and an own goal four minutes later put the match out of reach. Willis capped things off with her own goal courtesy of Alexis Murphy in the 56th.
Mt Spokane 6-0 Rogers: In another easy contest of the opposiiton of the Pirates, the Wildcats netted four in the first 20 minutes as they rolled to the win. Kaylee Speer struck just three minutes in via Payton Stiles and Sierra Poquette doubled it in the 10th. Speer then turned provider in the 12th minute for Stiles, who also scored in the 20th. Poquette scored her second to make it five in the 45th and Ally Gockley rounded things off at the hour mark with assists from Hallie Vervair and Abby Maxwell, respectively.
