College Notebook 10.6.18

Here's a recap of recent action over the past few days...

## Women's Scores & Notes ## 

Pac-12, Mountain West & West Coast Conferences


MW - Boise State 2-2 New Mexico :: Tied for the all-time Mountain West career scoring record Raimee Sherle wasted no time taking care of that burden, scoring just 63 seconds into the match by receiving an Aubree Chatterton through ball and quickly striking in the box. Chatterton pushed the lead to two off a throw-in in the 17th courtesy of McKenna Kynett and Allegra Weeks. The Lobos, though, answered in the 40th and tied it up with 15 minutes left, grinding the match to a draw with just three combined shots by the two sides through overtime.


WCC - Pacific 0-1 Gonzaga :: The Bulldogs dominated the contest with a 25-6 advantage in shots, but it was a loose ball that had been played into the box initially by Jodi Ulkekul and Sophia Viviano in the 75th that Alaysia Lane knocked home for the winner. Isabel Jones only needed to make one save for the shutout as the Zags moved to 2-1-1 on the season.



WCC - Santa Clara 3-2 Loyola Marymount :: Kelsey Turnbow (Spokane, WA) set up the opening goal to give the Broncos the initial lead 13 minutes in and later found Kelcie Hedge (Post Falls, ID) in the 78th minute for the game-winner.

WCC - Saint Mary's 0-3 Portland :: Madison Carter (Boise, ID) scored the final goal for the Pilots.

PAC-12 - Washington State 1-3 Colorado :: The showdown of ranked sides went the way of the Buffs, who grabbed a two goal lead 12 minutes in. Morgan Weaver scored in the 58th, but the hosts held on and added one more despite being outshot 15-7 in the half.

PAC-12 - Washington 0-2 Utah :: The Utes blanked the Huskies with freshman Makayla Christensen (Meridian, ID) scoring the insurance goal in the second half.

Big Sky Conference - Standings 

Montana 1-0 Idaho State :: The two sides battled in a tight affair with the Grizzlies grabbing the win on a late strike from Alexa Coyle (Bozeman, MT), who collected the ball with her back to goal and turned to fire it home from about 15 yards out. Claire Howard made six saves for the shutout while Laule'a Philiips had made three for the Bengals.    

Sacramento State 2-3 Southern Utah :: Caitlin Prothe (Spokane, WA) scored to even things up for the Hornets.

Great Northwest Athletic Conference - Standings 

Central Washington 0-1 (OT) Northwest Nazarene :: The Nighthawks grabbed the dramatic win with just two seconds remaining in overtime when Kaisa Tsuruta put Ashley Parton (Leavenworth, WA) on a breakaway that finished with the deciding tally, giving them the win despite being outshot 18-7 in the game.  

Saint Martin's 2-0 MSU Billings :: Kylee Sarchett scored back-to-back goals in the 67th and 68th minutes.

Seattle Pacific 0-4 Western Washington :: A shot from Darby Doyle (Spokane, WA) rang off the post, rebounding for a teammate to finish for the second goal.

Northwest Conference - Standings 

Pacific Lutheran 0-1 Puget Sound :: Lura Morton (Moscow, ID) scored the deciding goal in the 84th minute.

Cascade Collegiate Conference - Standings 

Carroll 2-1 Rocky Mountain :: The Battlin Bears scored just 11 seconds in via Mhari Smith, snapping a lengthy scoring drought for RMC. That was all they would find though, and the Saints rallied with goals from McKenna Payne and Lizzie Sheldon in the 32nd and 58th minutes.  

Providence 1-2 College of Idaho :: Malena Lennon finished off a cross from Bri Wikert six minutes into the contest, but Erika Thompson (Boise, ID) quickly tied the match up on a cross from Madison Glascock (Twin Falls, ID) three minutes later. Emily Carroll (Meridian, ID / CC Spokane) provided the winner via a penalty in the 56th minute.    

Eastern Oregon 1-1 Northwest University :: The two sides exchanged goals in the span of 56 seconds in the ninth and 10th minutes and then went the rest of the way deadlocked despite finishing with a combined 48 shots. Sharaya Roberts (Spokane, WA) put the Eagles on the board first with Jenna Jensen (Spokane, WA) finding Natalie Mitchell for the equalizer. Cydni Cottrell (Pasco, WA) made 10 saves for EOU.

Around the Nation

Baylor 1-0 (OT) West Virginia :: The 24th-ranked Bears upset 16th-ranked West Virignia to move to 3-1-0 in the Big 12 thanks to Camryn Wendlandt (Coeur d'Alene, ID). A long free kick from midfield was headed in the box to Wendlandt, who finished for the winner in the 95th minute, giving the Bears the win despite being outshot 19-4 in the match by a Mountaineer side that had not lost a Big 12 home match since joining the league in 2012 (24-0-2... Baylor registered one of the draws back in 2012).


Simpson 0-13 Embry-Riddle :: Riley Martinson (Spokane, WA) set up the opening goal 90 seconds in and went on to score the third and fourth goals before 15 minutes had even elapsed as they rolled to the win. Parker Lee (Kennewick, WA) would add two goals and Maggi McElrath (Bend, OR) one.



## Men's Scores & Notes ## 

Great Northwest Athletic Conference - Standings 

Western Washington 1-1 MSU Billings :: Despite being outshot 9-1 in the first half the Yellowjackets went to the break scoreless against the Vikings and got an early goal three minutes into the second half when Brady Tesch finished off a ball from Luca Battistotti. The Vikings would again dominate the half with a 13-5 advantage in shots, but the only one they would get past Rhodin Ludvig, who had nine saves, came via a penalty in the 71st.  

Simon Fraser 5-0 Northwest Nazarene :: The top-ranked side dominated the affair with three goals in the first half as they rolled to the win as they picked up a man advantage in the second half.

Northwest Conference - Standings 

Pacific Lutheran 4-3 Puget Sound :: The Lutes rallied for the win with three unanswered after Luke Murdock (Boise, ID), who set up their second goal, had put the Loggers back up by two. Joe Sammartino (Boise, ID) scored the equalizer in the comeback on a penalty.

Cascade Collegiate Conference - Standings 

Carroll 1-2 Rocky Mountain :: Paulo Georgiades put the Saints in front on the road eight minutes into the contest via Jose Porras, but the hosts answered via Mason Luse (Billings, MT) in the 25th. The Battlin Bears went on to get the winner in the 62nd when Tulio Melo connected with Nolan Sherwood.  

Providence 2-1 College of Idaho :: George Holloway scored 58 seconds into the contest on a through ball down the left side from Dylan Bird and got a key insurance goal from Alex Williams off a failed clearance in the 52nd. The Yotes got on the board eight minutes later when Ben Bechor scored off a cross from Andrew Lauritzen.    

Eastern Oregon 2-2 Northwest University :: The Mountaineers led twice, but had to setting for the draw on the road. Carlos Solario put Connor Young on a breakaway just over a minute before halftime for the first, but Jordan Travis tied it up in the 51st. Jorge Chavez tallied off a free kick from Josh Goodman two minutes later to reclaim the lead, but Travis tied it up again int he 67th.

Walla Walla University 0-4 Evergreen State :: Emilio Meraz-Rodriguez (Pasco, WA) scored the opening goal two minutes in via Christian Segovia (Walla Walla, WA / Walla Walla CC) and scored two more in the 53rd and 55th for a hat-trick. The first came on a give-and-go and the second via penalty. Another minute later he set up the final goal.

Oregon Tech 3-2 Warner Pacific :: Brennan Gazdik (Boise, ID) created the winner in the 80th with a shot that was rebounded on the save for the winner.

Simpson 4-1 Nebraska Wesleyan :: Trailing by two Luke Livingston (Spokane, WA) converted a penalty to put the Wolves within one before halftime.
