HS Daily - 9.14.17: Prep, CV win GSL non-league contests

With the start of official league play still a week away for the Greater Spokane League, Wednesday evening was another slate of non-league affairs. Two of them, however, featuring all-GSL pairings with Gonzaga Prep slipping past Mt Spokane and Central Valley downing Ferris.

Non-League

(3A) Mt Spokane 0-1 Gonzaga Prep (4A) 
The Bullpups found a little grace for the non-league win as Grace Batkoff scored on a ball from Grace Cooper in the 65th for the deciding tally. Eden Elliott recorded the shutout.

(ID) Lake City 2-4 Mead (4A) 
It was a back-and-forth affair in the first half with Mead reclaiming the lead twice. Olivia DeShazo netted the 20th minute opener and Margo Schoesler put the Panthers back in front in the 34th. The visitors tied it back up in the 38th, but Megan Cardenas tallied what held as the winner a minute later. The defense kept Lake City off the board in the second half, which featured a second goal from DeShazo for some insurance.

(B) Northwest Christian 0-4 North Central (3A)
Izzy Garcia and Kaeli Grimbergen guided the Indians to the easy win. Garcia scored the opening two goals in the second and 14th with VanGrimbergen setting up the second and tallying the third in the second half via a ball from Garcia. Payton Flannery rounded out the scoring.
