NWAC East Tonight 9.26.18: Cardinals Take Four Points in Spokane

The North Idaho College men kept themselves in the postseason picture by handing Spokane their second loss in league play while earning their second win, staying within five points of the leading trio at the halfway point. In the earlier match of the doubleheader the Bigfoot ladies were just cursed and could not find the back of the net, at one point hitting both posts on one shot and then the crossbar on another within a three-minute span. The draw, combined with Yakima Valley's win over Blue Mountain keeps things tight at the top of the table at the halfway point.

WOMEN

North Idaho 0-0 Spokane :: The Bigfoot completely dominated the contest and hit the woodwork numerous times in the second half as they began to hone in on the target, but were just unable to find the winner as they played to a second consecutive scoreless draw. Defensively they did not allow NIC a scoring chance in the game until the 83rd minute when the Cardinals got back-to-back chances with their initial chance going off the crossbar and a follow-up eight yards out being blocked point-blank by a defender. Micky Ramirez was credited with one save for Spokane while Kaysha Bailey (Lewiston, ID) had 11 for the Cardinals.

Blue Mountain 0-6 Yakima Valley :: Three different players scored in the opening 14 minutes as the Yaks rolled to the victory. Natalie Wright kicked things off two minutes in with Kirsten Stickney (Colville, WA) finding Sessi Allott with a square ball in the 12th and scoring herself two minutes later. Harley Hendry (Hauser, ID) made it four in the 27th on a nice combination play with Courtney Handlen (Pocatello, ID). In the second half Anna Kallie struck on a 40-yard bomb and Ciel McDonald finished things off in the 85th. Ally Glebe only needed to make one save for the shutout as the Timberwolves were limited to one shot.
