HS UPDATE 9.13.18: Chiawana, Kamiakin Continue Unbeaten in MCC

The Riverhawks and Braves rolled to two more shutout victories Tuesday evening as they continue their dominance in the Mid-Columbia Conference. Chiawana, facing an unbeaten 2-0 Hanford side, moved to 4-0 with the win and still have yet to allow a goal this season. Kamiakin's defense similarly has dominated play with just one goal allowed is 3-0.

In the GNL Cheney and West Valley both took care of business to move to 2-0 on the season, but the Blackhawks needed overtime to dispatch last-place Pullman. In contrast, there were no such contests in the NEA where the top three - Deer Park, Freeman and Lakeside - yet against rolled to easy wins against the bottom half of the table to all remain 3-0. That will change come Thursday evening though as Deer Park and Lakeside square off in the first meeting amongst any of the contenders.

Though final results are missing from a few scheduled matches on file during the stretch, the most recent victory for the Pirates as far as INWsn can ascertain is a 1-0 victory against St Georges in October of 2014.

Ivy Sarich got things going early on a ball from Marissa Bell just four minutes in. Then midfielder Hailey Hooks - who also dominated defensively - went on a spree, setting up Macy Crawford in the seventh and tallying three of the next four goals herself. Sarah Vensel set up the final goal of the hat-trick, but it was the first of four consecutive assists she would tally, including two for Bell on fantastic crosses. The Tigers opened the scoring with a quick attack up the middle that saw Camryn Gardner feed Anna Ackermann, who finished from just inside the box. A free kick from the left corner at the other end four minutes later created the equalizer for the visitors when a bouncing ball was blasted to goal and caught the raised arms of a leaping Iris Hartwig, resulting in the penalty converted by Erika Skindlov. As a non-league contest, the two sides went directly to a shootout, which would go on to eight rounds with Erin Carney making two saves for LC while Lily Foster made one and saw another go wide in the initial five rounds.
